Coloplast
|
|
In 2007 Coloplast celebrates our 50th Anniversary together
The success of Coloplast has been - and will continue to be - built on our very special way of doing business. It all started 50 years ago with Nurse Elise Srensen listening to her sister Thoras problems following her ostomy operation. She learnt of her sisters fear that her stoma would leak in public and the dramatic negative effect this was having on her lifestyle. Thora no longer dared to go out, and Elise felt inspired to find a solution.
The result was a simple ingenious idea with far-reaching consequences: the worlds first ostomy bag with adhesive ring... eliminating leakage, and restoring self-confidence. This idea would give her sister and many, many, thousands like her around the world the chance to live a normal life once more. But first it needed to be produced
So Elise contacted Aage Louis-Hansen in the hope that he would manufacture. His answer was... no. The story could have ended there, if it was not for the support and determination of Aages wife Johanne, who herself had trained as a nurse and could sense the true value of Elises idea... and so Coloplast was born.
Moving forward in time, our business has expanded to include urology, continence, wound & skin care - but the way we do business remains true to the spirit of Elise and our founders. We listen, we learn then we respond by answering the needs of those who use our products, and the professionals who care for them - never being satisfied until weve made someones life easier.
Listening and responding is - and will always be - the heart of Coloplast. See all Coloplast

Rochester Medical
|
|
Intermittent catheters are used as a treatment option for patients with certain types of urinary incontinence. Patients who are unable to completely empty the bladder during urination (urinary retention), or patients who have a bladder obstruction, may require intermittent urinary catheterization. Disabled individuals with neurological disorders that cause paralysis or a loss of sensation in the perineal area may require intermittent urinary catheters.
Rochester Medical has applied its patented technology in the design and manufacture of its latex-free intermittent catheter line. Rochester Medical devices represent the industry's highest quality and innovation, thereby promoting greater independence, improved hygiene and user comfort. Each Rochester Medical brand catheter specifically addresses the individual needs of particular users.
Rochester Medical manufactures a complete line of male external catheters to meet the needs of incontinent men. All Rochester Medical catheters are 100% latex-free (eliminating the risk of latex-related skin reactions) and are breathable to help maintain optimal skin integrity.
The UltraFlex is a breathable, clear and odor free catheter and offers a built-in adhesive band in a length and placement associated with traditional style self-adhering male external catheters that works well for a wide range of patients.
The Pop-On combines Rochester Medical's patented forward adhesive placement with a 1.5 inch long catheter sheath. By providing maximum adhesive area on a short sheath design, the Pop-On male external catheter works especially well for those patients with a short or retracted penis.
The WideBand has a 3-inch wide adhesive area representing a 70% greater surface area than traditional style catheters. Additionally, this expanded adhesive area is positioned so that it begins just behind the glans. This patented forward placement of the adhesive is designed to help prevent premature removal problem experienced by many male external catheter users.
The Natural non-adhesive male external catheter is designed specifically for men who need to change external catheters several times a day to accommodate intermittent catheterization. The Natural comes with an adjustable strap to provide a comfortable fit. Additionally, Rochester Medical offers a line of urinary leg bags and accessories for use with male external catheters, Foley catheters and most urinary catheters.
Rochester Medical's clear 100% silicone Foley catheters are offered in a wide range of French sizes and balloon capacities. Sizes range from a pediatric 6Fr. 1.5cc/ml balloon to a 26Fr. 30cc/ml balloon. These catheters are packaged as individual sterile devices or as preconnected catheterization trays in 14-18Fr. 5/10cc/ml. A three-lumen version is available when irrigation is necessary. Rochester Medical Foley catheters are manufactured with a technically advanced process that makes the balloon tip interface very smooth and non-traumatizing.
The Personal Catheter for intermittent catheterization is available in a variety of male, female and pediatric sizes. Exclusive technology provides a firm silicone inner layer for ease of insertion and a soft silicone outer layer for cushioned firmness. Four comfort-sized eyes are smaller to help the catheter pass smoothly over sensitive urethral tissues yet maximize urine drainage. Made entirely of silicone, the Personal Catheter is significantly softer than ordinary plastic devices and eliminates the risks associated with repeated exposure to latex. The Personal Catheter is available in standard, antibacterial, hydrophilic, and antibacterial hydrophilic designs. These catheters are packaged individually, as a preconnected urethral tray, or as a closed system (with or without insertion supplies).
The RELEASE - NF catheter is an all silicone Foley catheter with a built-in anti-bacterial agent. When placed in a patient, the RELEASE-NF catheter provides a controlled release of the antibacterial agent nitrofurazone to the tissues of the urethral tract for the up to 30 days. Clinical trials with the RELEASE-NF show a statistically significant reduction in bacterial CAUTI (catheter associated urinary tract infection) with a 10-fold reduction at 3 days and a 6-fold reduction at 5 days. Sizes range from 12-26Fr. 5/10cc/ml and 16-26Fr. 30cc/ml balloon. These catheters are packaged as individual sterile devices or as preconnected catheterization trays in 14-18Fr. 5/10cc/ml.
The FemSoft Insert is a small, single-use, liquid and silicone device that a woman can easily insert into her urethra. The latex-free insert consists of a narrow silicone tube completely encapsulated by a soft, conformable, fluid-filled sleeve. As a woman inserts the thin device, the soft sleeve slides into and conforms to the urethra, creating an effective seal at the neck of the bladder to prevent unintended urine leakage. It is removed during routine bathroom visits where it is discarded and then replaced by a fresh insert. See all Rochester Medical
