The success of Coloplast has been - and will continue to be - built on our very special way of doing business. It all started 50 years ago with Nurse Elise Srensen listening to her sister problems following her ostomy operation. She learnt of her fear that her stoma would leak in public and the dramatic negative effect this was having on her lifestyle. Thora no longer dared to go out, and Elise felt inspired to find a solution.
The result was a simple ingenious idea with far-reaching consequences: the first ostomy bag with adhesive ring... eliminating leakage, and restoring self-confidence. This idea would give her sister and many, many, thousands like her around the world the chance to live a normal life once more. But first it needed to be produced.
So Elise contacted Aage Louis-Hansen in the hope that he would manufacture. His answer was... . The story could have ended there, if it was not for the support and determination of wife Johanne, who herself had trained as a nurse and could sense the true value of idea... and so Coloplast was born.
Moving forward in time, our business has expanded to include urology, continence, wound & skin care - but the way we do business remains true to the spirit of Elise and our founders. Closed system catheters from MTG have the newly designed feature called the EZ-Advancer. This new unique system allow you to pull the intermittent catheter out of the bag without it slipping back in. The EZ-Advancer ring stops the catheter from slipping back in as you let go to pull more of the catheter out or when you have pulled it out as much as you want. Another great innovative feature of this closed system intermittent catheter is its way of emptying the contents. You do not have to tear the bag open. You simply pull the catheter all the way out of the bag and pour the contents out through the hole. The catheter and EZ-Advancer is designed to take just enough pressure for you to pull out of the bag, and not allow it to slip out during use.

The RELEASE - catheter is an all silicone Foley catheter with a built-in anti-bacterial agent. The FemSoft is a small, single-use, liquid and silicone device that a woman can easily insert into her urethra. The latex-free insert consists of a narrow silicone tube completely encapsulated by a soft, conformable, fluid-filled sleeve. As a woman inserts the thin device, the soft sleeve slides into and conforms to the urethra, creating an effective seal at the neck of the bladder to prevent unintended urine leakage. It is removed during routine bathroom visits where it is discarded and then replaced by a fresh insert.
